Birds SA President Speaks at TEDx Adelaide

Many of you will be familar with TED talks, but did you know that there have been 13 TEDx events in South Australia since 2010? In 2015 TEDx Adelaide was held at the Adelaide Town Hall on the 21st November. The event attracted a huge audience, who came to hear about good ideas for helping address issues effecting our society.

….TEDx provided a great platform to share this story with an audience of predominantly young people

Our very own President, Associate Professor David Paton, was invited to join the speakers list this year. We all know David is a passionate advocate for birds and their conservation, and TEDx provided a great platform to share this story with an audience of predominantly young people.

David’s talk, “Can we stop our birds disappearing” was well received and generated quite a lot of interest from the crowd in bioR, the not-for-profit organisation that David and others have set-up to try and secure funds to restore and reinstate habitat.

A video of David’s talk will be available in the near future so we’ll post a link to that as soon as it is available.

*TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages. TEDx events are independently run to help share ideas in communities around the world. For more information go to: http://tedxadelaide.com/about/
