Kinchina Conservation Park (Easy)

13 February, 2021 at 8:30 am12:00 pm

Meet for 8:30 departure at end of Tower Road.

There are other walks in the Park, but for the sake of establishing a clear and easy-to-access meeting point, we will be taking the one starting at Tower Road.

Tower Road can only be accessed from the Old Princess Highway.

Unless you want to take the scenic route, the quickest and easiest way to access Tower Road via the Old Princess Highway is from the South Easter Freeway B55 Adelaide Road exit into Murray Bridge.

The GPS coordinates for the Tower Road / Old Princess Highway intersection are:

[35°08’16.6″S 139°13’06.8″E] or [-35.137948, 139.218566]

Proposed walk is a 9.5 km circuit, with a projected duration of 2-3 hours. The Trail is classed as a Grade 3, Moderate Hike, with undulating terrain.

Starting at the gate at the end of Tower Road, the walk will encompass elements of Kinchina Conservation Park’s Jailbreak Trail, Rocky Gully Link Trail, Getaway Car loop, Jailhouse Rocks Loop and return on the Cemetery Trail back to Tower Road.

Some maps show a carpark and access trail from the Old Princes Highway (in the south of the park), however, this isn’t the case and you will need to jump a barb wire fence and walk through the sandy paddock (there is no track to follow) to reach the gate near Tower Road, where the Jailbreak Trail begins.

This is why we will meet and commence the walk from the gate at the end of Tower Road.

There should be sufficient space for the parking of cars.
