McLaren Flat Wetland

Where is it?: McLaren Flat Wetland is on Blewitt Springs Road near the corner of Main Road at McLaren Vale.

Owner: City of Onkaparinga.

Property summary: Total area c. 5 hectares. Hundred of Willunga – Allotment 60 (Deposited Plan 46894) 1.

Landscape Management Region: Hills and Fleurieu

History: The McLaren Flat wetland was constructed to manage water quality for stormwater from small land division. Site works were completed in 2005.

Habitat: The wetlands consist of a series of interconnected ponds.
The area has been planted with River Red Gum (Eucalyptus camaldulensis

Total Species Recorded to Date: 27 (non-passerines 14, passerines 13)

Common Species: Australasian Grebe, White-plumed Honeyeater, Magpielark, Dusky Moorhen

Less Common Species: Black-faced Cuckooshrike, Hardhead, White-necked Heron, Black-tailed Nativehen
