Ohlmeyer Park Reservoir Reserve, Clare

Where is it?: Ohlmeyer Park Reservoir Reserve is located off Neagles Rocks Road, Clare.

Owner: Crown Land managed by the Clare and Gilbert Valleys Council.

Property summary: Total area 13 hectares. Hundred of Clare – Part Sections 424-426 and 571 now Allotment 113 (Deposited Plan 215963), Pieces 105 and 106 (Filed Plan 216655) and Section 571.1.

History:The land was declared as Water Reserve No. 11 in August 18662. In February 1918 the land was resumed and vested in the South Australian Railways Commissioner3. In November 1965 the Railway Reserve (formerly Water Reserve No. 11 adjoining Section 425) was resumed4.

Habitat:The habitat is mostly Peppermint Gum (Eucalyptus odorata), with Southern Cypress Pine Callitris gracilis and Golden Wattle (Acacia pycnantha). The understory has been considerably disturbed with Top Lavender (Lavandula stoechas subsp. stoechas) and other weedy plants.

Total Species Recorded to Date: 30 (non-passerines 18, passerines 12).

Common Species: Eurasian Coot, Pacific Black Duck, White-plumed Honeyeater, Australian Magpie, Adelaide Rosella, Grey Shrikethrush

Less Common Species: Common Bronzewing, White-winged Chough, Hardhead, Sacred Kingfisher, Red-rumped Parrot
