Ramco Lagoon

Where is it?: Ramco Lagoon is on the outskirts of Waikerie between Ramco Road and the River Murray. There is a bird hide at the south-eastern end of the lagoon. It is part of the Waikerie Bird Watcher’s Trail.

Owner: Crown land managed by Department for Environment and Water.

Landscape Management Region: Murraylands and Riverland

Habitat: The area has salt bush (Atriplex spp.) with samphire on the margins, there are also patches of isolated reeds and sedgeland along the wetland margins, with open woodland of River Box (Eucalyptus largiflorens) / River Red Gum (E. camaldulensis) and shrubland on the surrounding higher floodplain.

Common Species:  White-faced Heron , Crested Pigeon, Yellow Rosella, Australasian Shoveler, Welcome Swallow, Black Swan, Grey Teal

Less Common Species: Blue-billed Duck, Freckled Duck, Little Eagle, Red-backed Kingfisher, Sharp-tailed Sandpiper, Regent Parrot, Whiskered Tern
